Vaser Liposuction – Ankles

Disproportionately fat ankles or calves, often known as cankles, can often be a source of distress and embarrassment and it is usually genetically predetermined, which means that diet and exercise have limited effect. However, treatments aimed at reshaping the lower leg and removing fat from this tricky to treat area have had varying degrees of success.

Removing fat cells from this area has proved tricky because there are important nerves, blood vessels and lymphatic structures present. In the hands of a skilled and experienced practitioner such as Dr Joshua Berkowitz of Wimpole Aesthetics, VASER has emerged as a safe and effective treatment for the ankles because it allows for precise targeting of the fat cells alone which lie in a very superficial layer.

The area is numbed with a local anaesthetic and then Dr Berkowitz will make a few tiny incisions, which he positions carefully so they should be unnoticeable when fully healed. He is then able to insert the specially designed VASER probe into the tissue and fire the ultrasound energy into the fat cells. This fat is liquefied making it easy to remove with gentle suction.

You will be able to return home the same day and there is significantly less discomfort, bruising and swelling after a VASER procedure so recovery is shorter than with other treatment options. However, we always advise our London VASER patients to bring a friend or family member with them to assist them from the clinic and in the first twenty-four hours or so at home.

All VASER patients are given comprehensive aftercare advice on how best to manage their recovery process and we provide regular follow-up appointments to ensure you are recovering well and enjoying the results you were hoping for.
